God is a DJ
December 14, 2008
I went there tempted by 'free admission tag' on one of the concerts that took place at the Union Chapel. I aslo wanted to check this place out, as I didn't manage to do this on the occasion of a Goldfrapp gig last winter (I still cannot forgive myself).
Union Chapel IS actually a chapel, filled with colour light coming through stained glass windows and the smell of inscent. The ambience there is so extraordinary and adds more charm and beauty to the performances and the artis take over the oltar and become masters of celebration:) I wonder if DM had opportunity to play there BTW...
The concert was let's say 'interesting', maybe not entirely my cup of tea, but I am glad I am hooked now and will watch this space for other gigs.
What I like the most is the whole idea of making this venue accessible for those, who not necessarily are 'believers'. There are so many great venues like this one, which have door locked in the fear pagans would destroy it. Union Chapel (a registred charity ) have therefore some trust in people and above all sense of business, which is a great example for any church to call itself 'modern'. Well done!
