Cafe Soho, I miss you.
November 13, 2007
I used to eat at this place all the time as it was just around the corner from my workplace. Unlike a lot of cafe type establishments, innovative and fresh food is high on the list of priorities of this hidden gem.
They have a staple menu of breakfast and lunch items from soup, salad and of course sandwiches on a wide variety of freshly baked breads. They cater for a range of food intolerances and when I first requested wheat free bread not only did they oblige but they took their time finding a quality product that they would have been happy to put their name to.
On top of these great standard choices, they offer a rotating special sandwich, salad, soup and my personal favourite, a hot food item. They even produce a low carb version!
Their burger should not be missed, freshly made on site and seasoned with a hint of coriander. My only criticism is the roast potatos that they sometimes serve with the burger, they are generally undercooked and don't use a floury potato that would have worked better.
I live in America now and still miss Cafe Soho and make a point to pop in whenever I'm in London.
