The Best Local You Could Ask For!

5.0 out of 5.0

February 10, 2009

I don't like change and I don't like it when people take old things and replace them for new things, for no good reason. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. BUT, this time I have been hushed by my fellow work colleagues.

It has become our local work joint to go to for a few, after work. At first, being a gastropub, I was hesitant to like it. For no good reason than the fact that the old school pub is being transformed into a new-fangled mini-restaurant.

You come in here and you instantly feel warm and welcome. There is no age-specific clientèle for this pub (sorry, I usually stay away from old-people pubs), and this makes me like it more. I have had so many very amusing, and very friendly, conversations with people just stood at the bar, waiting for drinks, that this place just makes me smile all over.

The general managers, on any given day, are so incredibly helpful and smiley that it's hard not to like this place. There's seating off all sorts - from high chairs to tables - and there's a restaurant at the back, should you need to get away from the hubbub.

I have eaten almost everything on the menu and it is all of the highest quality and order. Food arrives very quickly and with a smile. I almost always order more condiments and the staff are happy to bring it to you without any fuss. Everyone is so at ease here, I don't think you could feel any more comfortable if you tried. And, if you don't feel like eating a lot of food, just order the wedges. For two fifty, you receive a very large of piping hot wedges that you and your friends will struggle to finish. Everything is worth it here. Prices are about a pound more than elsewhere for drinks, but you are in Kensington, so be warned if you like cheap and cheerful.

Having shared a good laugh with the staff on many occasions, I think my colleagues and I are so happy that this is our local. There's something in the air in this place and it's certainly catching.

Long live Britannia!
