London's home for film

5.0 out of 5.0

December 31, 2008

Like film? Haven't heard of the NFT? Then you either don't live in London or you don't really like film that much.

The NFT is home to the British Film Institute and essentially the most important place in London when it comes to independent film, cinema and moving image.

They've got 3 or 4 screens and the main cinema is awesome and huge. They run workshops and showcase different directors or genres throughout the year. They've recently had a refurb and added a new bar called Benugo which is kinda nice however I prefer the old NFT bar which faces the water and is directly underneath Waterloo bridge.

The best thing about the NFT bar is that people are so polite here that they form a nice orderly queue to get served at the bar but because it is a bar you don't have to queue - the best thing is to walk up and stand next to the guy at the front of the queue and you get served - sounds mean but honestly it's a bar and you're not meant to queue

Benugo Bar & Kitchen

5.0 out of 5.0

In the back of the NFT away from the river is the Benugo Bar which is a relaxed sofa strewn hang out. Reminds me of the Central Perk but this place definitely serves more pints than lattes. Bar food was superb.
