Amazing Ambience

4.0 out of 5.0

Another stop on the Posh Indian Food tour of London, Zaika benefits from having a jaw-dropping location. The dining room is situated in what used to be the lobby of an old bank and so it is all fancy finishings and soaring ceilings. One downside is that when the restaurant is busy it can become rather noisy as sounds echo around the large space. Still, the atmosphere definitely lends itself to a classy meal, which Zaika does deliver.
I often have a go at dressed up Indian, and I won't fail to do so again here. Although more often than not you are being served a dish that has very humble roots, there is no scooping the rice in your hand here - at least not if you don't want to be on the receiving end of incredulous looks from your neighbors. Proper use of cutlery is expected.
Still, sacrificing that kind of authenticity for intense and rewarding flavors may well be worth it, and the dishes here left us all satisfied. Just don't expect me to pick up the tab! This place is a bit pricey.
