Good Old English Pub Atmosphere
September 16, 2008
I haven't been here for a while, but this used to be one of my favourite haunts as it's in spitting distance of St. Bart's Hospital, where Vicki used to work. From the black & white check tile flooring to the sweeping wooden staircase it oozes Olde Worlde charm and hints at the opulence of a bygone age. There are lots of cosy nooks to squeeze into for an intimate drink or two, as well as bigger spaces for a larger get together. Food wasn't half bad either - from what I recall. It's pub grub, but you can taste the freshness of the ingredients, as you would expect with Smithfield Market just across the road.
