I've just been back to Portobello market after years and the food/produce section of the market has massively improved (or my memory is bad - both just as likely)! We walked up Portobello road against the flow (from Ladbroke grove end) which made it quite challenging at times, especially with the masses of tourists not looking where they are walking. But despite walking upstream I'll definitely be back soon as the fresh fruit and vegetable selection was brilliant. All those ingredients I struggle to find at the 3 Tescos in my neighbourhood :( I can now get at the market. And joy oh joy - a proper fish monger with a wide selection of fish and crustaceans. Even live crab (for those not squeamish). Perfect for my christmas food shopping.
