We had a blast at Scalini. It was expensive for us, but we really enjoyed our time there. The service was excellent and jolly, although slightly pretentious. Rather too many "madams" for our liking, but nonetheless an enjoyable experience.

They even made a dish for my friend that wasn't on the menu. She asked for an eggplant dish she'd had elsewhere and they immediately said they could make it for her without any hesitation. She hadn't even asked them to make it for her, but they did it anyway.

She loved it. I had a dried beef appetizer recommended by the waiter. It was surprisingly good.

For my main course I had salmon with prawn and vegetables. The vegetables were really tasty. Delicious, in fact, but the salmon was a little overcooked. I didn't complain because I was full, but I am sure if I had they would have replaced the fish.

My friend had duck and thought it was delicious.

We didn't order dessert. We had coffees and they brought amaretto biscuits so our urge for sweets was sated.

It's also not really necessary to order an appetizer at this restaurant if you are on a budget. They put lots of melba bread and breadsticks on the table before the meal. They also put a dish of tomato with olive and garlic on the table for use on the bread. There was also a dish of green olives.
