Great hotel, for a British one.

You may have detected thus far from my reviews that I am not of UK residency. I live in California where the service industry is alive and well and actively seeking out your 20% tips. Shift a third of the way around the world and service with a snarl is the order of the day.

The Park Lane Sheraton hotel is owned by the ubiquitous Starwood Group. I frequent a number of their properties in the US very regularly so was somewhat apprehensive to experience four stars London style.

Well doubt no more, this place is great. It is a little tatty in places but these walls definitely have some secrets to tell. After a late night walk out last night I noticed a lady hanging around the bar who had made some very questionable wardrobe choices given there is a big storm coming in. She seemed happy enough to make friends with the coterie of single, besuited men propping up the bar.

The room is pretty comfortable, the bell service the best i've known in this country. I dined this morning on breakfast and it was absolutely delicious and a most welcome departure from the steam tray buffers that Sheraton foists on you in their other properties. Although at GBP21 a throw, I'd be hard pressed to accept anything else.

So bravo to the staff of the Park Lane for making this displaced American Brit feel most at home. And you have a great day now.
