The Spread Eagle is a homey public house, somewhat of a surprise in an area otherwise flooded with punk and goth venues. Wood paneling, antique tables and chairs, and old pictures haphazardly strewn about in a way that just works. You literally have the feeling of walking into a house, as different connecting rooms offer a nice separation between bar area, TV area, and calmer seating area in the bay windows, as well as little nooks to for hiding away. Great for groups who may want to watch a match as well as hang out in a place where the televisions don’t dominate every corner of the pub. I was surprised to find Jamaican Red Stripe as a draught beer, and even Leffe and Hoegaarden with the usual mix of draught and range of real ales. Looks like a good eclectic mix of food, though I did not partake.
