After the Beer Expo, my boyfriend and I decided to stop by here to watch the Barcelona vs. Espanyol game last night because there were two large flatscreen televisions, wasn't very crowded b/c it's tucked behind upper street, and we were starving. The manager was nice enough to switch the channels of one of the TVs to our game.
This pub is pretty up there for a pub. No sticky tables, rude staff, or grumbling bar flies. And the place is romantically lit with dim lights and candles.
They had a small but fine food selection with a range of fish and steaks. Everything is moderately priced around £10, give and take. I ordered a classic fish and chips and my boyfriend had the mackeral. They started the meal out with some plump olives and rustic bread. When our food came out, it was the most "high-end" pub food I had ever had. My fish was delicious! It was done in a London's Pride beer batter. And my fries were warm, crispy, but mushy on the inside. And my boyfriend greatly enjoyed his mackeral.
The crowd and the atmosphere got very festive as the night drew on. Sadly, we were the only ones watching the game. Definitely missing some football spirit here (it was probably just this game in particular). The game was pretty intense. The crowds were rioting and the field had to be cleared, but in the end Barcelona won 2-1!
