You don't come here for the steak

I came here recently with my mum - I don't know how it is with your family but parents or parent in town means free dinner - its an opportunity to order that extra starter or just get pissed and fed for free.

I smoke so Carluccio's is awesome as it has a pretty large outdoor seating area, unfortunately for my mum it was crazy windy that day, but hey she's a trooper.

I ordered the steak and she ordered some funghi pasta - we both had wine. The wine was ok but the service was pretty ropey, its possible the waiter was scared of being blown away what with the wind as he was really skinny but I don't think thats a credible excuse for poor service.

My steak was less than average, overcooked (it was probably medium but I like it still kicking) and a bit bland - I finished up pretty quickly and stuck a fork in my mum's pasta - it was delicious - arrrgh I hate it when you order something shit but the person you're with gets awesome food.

Anyway later I told my friend about my lame steak and he reminded me 'dude, you don't go to Carluccio's for the steak!' - damn, if only I'd've known beforehand.

I did however manage to pick up a small pot of truffle butter from the shop inside, that plus the mouthful of my mum's pasta and the numerous fags I managed to smoke despite the wind meant that this wasn't a wasted trip.
