Sometimes size does matter!

I don’t like big chain stores, but the reality is when it comes to bikes and bike parts, scale helps. They can afford bigger shops, which means bigger selection, more stock, and usually at a lower price. This is certainly true for this Spitafields shop. I bought Ortlieb panniers, front and rear racks, 2 spare spokes, pedals... and they had everything in stock, except the bike I just bought, had to order it - http://www.pashley.co.uk/guvnor/ Not only do they have tons of shit in stock, but they carry good/cool stuff like the aforementioned bike and panniers.

Service wise, everyone I’ve worked with knows bikes, rides bikes, like bikes, and seem to like their job which counts for a lot in my book. One example - I need a couple spare spokes for a trip and they worked on the spoke calculator for 15 min to find the right size, most people would of just said “sorry don’t have any”.
