Next time I go to the markets I'm not eating for a week before hand... the food is unreal!!! And they have all the great european treats...

~ BEATUFIUL bakalava
~ fabulous turkish olives (sold by one of the most amiable and knowledgeable salesman you'll ever meet)
~ swish melted cheese plates (forGET the diet)
~ proper fish and chips, bangers n mash etc
~ greek kebabs

The fresh fruit n veg is a bit crappy, but you go for the french butter, foie gras, game meats, sausages and hard to find condiments (pomegranate treacle!). A foodies heaven, and a top spot to take visitors.

Love Food

5.0 out of 5.0

Well, what else can I say that hasn't been said already?

Just in case you haven't already been convinced, Borough Market is one of the most fabulous places on earth, and had I the time, money and location right I would shop there exclusively. I'm not sure you can get better quality or variety anywhere.

The Northfield Farm stall is a carnivore's paradise (the best bacon I've ever had, hands down). All other names escape me (I get too excited looking at the food to pay attention to the actual names, unfortunately) but you'll find unbelievable breads, jams, garlic and mushrooms at my favourite stalls.

If you really can't bear crowds, take a day off and head down on a Thursday or Friday. Ideal.

Awesome

Borough Market is just awesome - apart from the food its a great place to just wander round and get rid of that hangover - my favorite bits are

Souvlaki man - such good Souvlaki - fresh lamb and great tzatziki.

Raclette man - seriously, I'm ocmpletely addicted - this is the best Raclette I've ever had.

Tomato Man - dude has like 17 different types of tomato and they all rock.

Salt man - on his table he has 4 massiv pots of salt mixed with different things - my fave is the garlic salt.

Coffee man - its actually a Monmouth coffee place but its great.

Oysters, Tea and Cake

5.0 out of 5.0

So I come down to the market whenever I can. Favourite places to eat are, of course, Wright Bros - fantastic selection of oysters and super fresh fish. The staff are amongst the best for service I've come across in ages. Efficent and friendly, what a combo!
Shipp's Tearooms are also great, proper traditional fare in a great environment. Lastly go to Konditor and Cook for the best cakes, particularly their fairy cakes. I bought my nephew one for Halloween and he sucked it up in about 3 seconds flat. How to win the hearts and minds of the young!! So if you haven't been yet, where have you been?

Super Market

5.0 out of 5.0

It seems almost pointless to add to the glowing reviews of this market - everyone who has been knows how amazing it is. I imagine some may not like how expensive the food is or how the market is fetishized by youngish people with too much money and sports utility prams, but that's the price you pay in the gourmet world. Plus it is so crowded that if you really hate those types, you at least get to throw a few free elbows. Excellent cheese, veg, seafood, baked goods, and who can possibly pass up the Brindisa chorizo sandwich - too small, perhaps, but a piece of heaven.

On a recent trip to London, my friends took me here to shop. I love to cook and I love to meet local farmers - this market is heaven. You get to pick out the perfect cut of meat and hand select every vegetable and share a lot of witty banter along the way. Best of all, was the amazing dinner my friends made for me once we returned home from the market.

Lazy Saturdays at Borough

This is one of my favorite places in London. Grab some food (fallafel works for me) , buy some food (the fish is amazing as are the brownies), finish it off with a beer next to the river. What a great way to spend a saturday (and then come home and cook it all!).

Heaven for Foodies!

5.0 out of 5.0

A day out at the Borough Market is just heaven for real foodies! Spend the morning wandering through the endless halls of fruit, nuts, vegetables, fresh fish, meats, cheeses, spices, wines and so much more! You can either enjoy small tastings at each store or save yourself for a bigger lunch at one of your favourites! My advice is to go early, as it gets real busy! The other bit of advice would be to pick a day when you feel strong, as you are bound to go home with much more than you set out to!

One-stop-shop!

5.0 out of 5.0

I agree with all the other Tippers that this market is probably the best in the UK.
It offers everything from cheese, wine, seafood, meat and poultry, gifts, vegetarian options, and desserts! My favourites are the salami and chocolate stalls.
This market never ceases to amaze me with the variety of things on offer and the people are always more than helpful.

I would recommend this as a great place to shop for weekly food, day outs, showing visitors, or even for taking someone there on a casual date.

A great place to go at the weekend. Food from around the world set under the railway arches. Sausages, cheese, organic - you name it it's here. Plenty of free tastings.
