Il Bordello, Take Two

3.0 out of 5.0

May 26, 2008

La Figa is the sister restaurant to the popular Il Bordello in Wapping. Unlike Il Bordello, La Figa hasn't attracted quite the same crowd yet - this may be partly due to the location, or it may be due to some highly dubious decorating decisions. They clearly spent a lot of money on the decor, but the overall effect is flashy but trashy. Bizarre bespoke tall-back chairs are used at every table, Ferrari red and completely uncomfortable.

If you can get past the silly chairs, the food is just as good as it is at Il Bordello and you have a much better chance of getting a table here, especially for larger groups. On warm days, you can sit outside on the large patio and relax with a pizza and a beer, which can be quite a nice thing (assuming you can figure out how to relax in those damned chairs).

I'm tempted to give La Figa a 4, just like I gave Il Bordello, but I really miss the charm and friendly ambiance of the original.
