Tasty and affordable Japanese

If you want non-wanky Japanese in a no-nonsense environment, Ichiban is the place to go. They have a good and 'safe' range of Japanese dishes such as soupy noodles, curries, sushi, hand rolls, and tempura.

I almost always order the Ichiban ramen (soup) and mixed sushi plate.

We were a bit disappointed that their gyoza was more deep-fried than pan-fried. But their tempura and bento boxes are lovely.

It gets pretty busy for dinner, so be prepared to queue at peak times.
