Mind The Blind (Beggar)

If you’re finally bored with proper Brick Lane and already explored most of its pubs- maybe it’s high time to broaden your mental horizon and move a bit to Whitechapel?
I took my chance on Saturday and went to The Blind Beggar in Whitechapel Road. The pub was half-empty and I’m really shocked that the place with such amazing criminal history hasn’t been discovered so far! (check the web or wikipedia)
There’s something really special about The Blind Beggar. I had an impression (don’t know if a proper one) that I went back to the dying baroque époque. It’s not an excessive ornamentation but diminishing luxury and decoration that gives a place some pathos. Beautiful red wallpapers, crystal (?) chandeliers, fire- place, armchairs....all intensify your sensation.
And if you go out to a beer garden, you can comfortably (safely) observe Whitechapel Market- that’s the best entertainment ever!

PS Beer? Nothing to be excited about- just basic staff

This place has a very genuine feel and is a proper good old english pub. The food is ok and drinks are quite cheap but what makes me come back is the beer garden. They have put up a high wall to keep out the noise from Whitechapel rd and with a few tables and plants this is quite a nice spot. If the sun is out it´s perfect for a late afternoon drink.
