Book!

4.0 out of 5.0

October 27, 2008

I don't have much to add - great food, bustling atmosphere, bargain prices. I went for dinner last week (my friend lives right next door) but since talking to other friends they've said how you always have to queue for ages.

My tip is book! I don't think you used to be able to, but if you don't then whatever night of the week it is you'll have to queue (possibly outta the door).

Also, don't expect it to be a leisurely affair. You get in, eat and leave your table to the hounds nibbling at your table.

Awesome Lamb Chops

5.0 out of 5.0

October 13, 2008

ZOMG! I got taken here for lunch the other day as a friend was leaving town - supposedly he had a bunch of things left on his list of MUST HAVE experiences whilst living in London and this was one of them.

My first impression was 'shit, I look like one of the waiters' beware if you go here wearing black jeans and a black shirt people might start clicking their fingers at you.

The atmosphere of place is super vibrant, the decor perhaps a little on the naff side but it was super busy at lunch time which is surely the best sign of all.

There were 3 of us and we decided to share a bunch of stuff - for starters we had the lamb chops, chicken tikka and 3 seekh kebabs which are like kofte kebabs. Well the tikka chicken was awesome, super tasty and moist and the seekhs were delicious but the crowning glory were the lamb chops - they had super long bones which meant you could pick them up and eat them cave man style nom nom nom - but seriously they were amazing, super tender and the marinade / spices were perfect - I've never had lamb chops like that before and they were nothing short of AMAZING.

For main we shared a Karahi Chicken and a Karahi Bindi both of which were awesome but the whole way through I kept thinking who was going to get the fourth lamb chop - unfortunately it was offered to the friend who was leaving the country, I should have been happy for him, happy that he'd finally had the chance to sample such delights before leaving the country perhaps for good but it was through gritted teeth that I responded 'no of course I don't mind' when he asked me if I wanted to last chop.

I guess I should be grateful for small mercies, I only work round the corner so I could actally come here every day for lunch and have the lamb chops again and again and again and again and you know what? I might just do that!

PS - Oh I completely forgot that a) its BYOB, very important not to forget that but also b) they do the most amazing Mango Lassi - seriously amazing.

Cheapest and Tastiest

5.0 out of 5.0

This place is legendary and on a Saturday night the queue for a table snakes around the restaurant, but don't be put off the wait is worth it. And no matter how long the queue you'll be seated quickly.
The staff are always really friendly and welcoming and the food is a great example of Pakistani food. In fact I spent about a month living off the chicken tikka and karahi chicken. I live nowhere near there anymore but its worth the journey across town.
And where else can two people stuff themselves with great food for under £15.

This you must not miss. Book if you do not want to queue. The food is amazingly good ad cheap. You can take your own drink ( there is a Tesco just 5 mins from the restaurant)- Service is quick and you are in and out really quickly - not a place to go if you want to languish over a meal - if you want top food it mustn't be missed.

Give the masala fish a try!!!
