Best Indian on Brick Lane?

It says a lot when, unlike every other restaurant on Brick Lane, there is no one outside Shampan hustling you in the door. The food was excellent from start to finish and the portions generous, and the thali platters provided an excellent sampling of cuisine. Not a whole lot of ambience, but this is clearly a restaurant that concentrates on the food. My chief complaint would be the service -- it took an inordinate length of time to order, and the 40 minutes to get the cheque was appalling. But I'd go back for the food.
