Innacurate Pub Makes me Mad

3.0 out of 5.0

March 26, 2008

Most pirate named pubs and bars are basically just that. A jolly roger on the outdoor sign and a vaguely nautical theme within the bar is as much as any girl could hope for.

At Captain Kidds you've pretty much got the same thing (sorry to have got your hopes up with that intro entendre...) - except the pub claims to be where the unfairly accused pirate of the same name had a pint before he was hanged.

While I enjoyed the pirate etchings on the wall and the old barrel oak tables, I certainly did NOT enjoy historical innacuracy which is what this pub is rife with.

Captain Kidd was held in an undergound cell before his mass execution. He didn't pop down the road into a converted Warehouse (which by my guess looks Georgian, so evidently didn't exist at the time) for a beer.

There should be some sort of historical police for this kind of crap.
