Chocolate Fix

4.0 out of 5.0

October 08, 2008

The food at Benugo is good but generally much too expensive, particularly given some of the better deals to be had in the neighborhood, so I tend to avoid the food here. The reason I go to Benugo is to satisfy a chocolate craving — they make a wicked cup of hot chocolate. Whereas Apostrophe makes a hot chocolate that is custard-thick but strangely mild in terms of chocolate flavor (who knows what they use to thicken it), Benugo is the real deal: thick due to the huge amount of good, rich chocolate being used. While I don't love the coffee at Benugo, get a mocha to take advantage of the yummy chocolate and you'll be quite happy. Pastries and muffins are also good here.
