Mutual are the best!!

5.0 out of 5.0

February 19, 2010

After living in East London for 4 years I have taken lessons with at least 3 different driving schools in the area and never really had much joy. The first driving school never turned up, the second one was okay for a while but I felt the instructor kept going over the same stuff, and the third school I booked one lesson only to have it moved at short notice, I took 3 more lessons with them and the instructor was late 2 out of 3 times. So I was just about ready to give up with my driving tuition and get used to being a pedestrian.

That's when a friend told me about Mutual Driving School. They have been around for over 30 years which was a good sign, and from my friend's recommendation coupled with positive feedback I had seen about them online I decided to give them a go.

My first lesson went smoothly and I immediately called the office when I got home to arrange some more lessons for the following few weeks. By this point my driving was not bad but I had started to develop a few bad habits. My instructor pointed these out on my first lesson and over the next couple of weeks we worked on those so that in the end I felt confident enough to start thinking about my test. I failed one test previously before coming to Mutual which I think was largely down to nerves. I now have a test booked for next week and I can honestly say that I am full of confidence as Mutual have instilled that in me.

Overall I found Mutual to be by far the best driving school in the area based on the ones I have been with. If there was an option on here to give them 6 out of 5 I definitely would.

I recently booked a course of 10 driving lessons as a christmas present for my daughter. I phoned Mutual and spoke to a lady at the office who was very helpful, I explained that my daughter would probably be a bit nervous as she has never driven a car before, but she reassured me that she would be well looked after. After her first lesson she was very pleased and said that she was already looking forward to her next lesson. On the second lesson I spoke to her instructor Clifford who seemed like a very nice man. This put my mind at ease and my daughter continued to take her lessons. She has now finished her course of 10 lessons and is progressing very well, she has even booked up some more lessons herself and is looking to hopefully get a test around the end of March.

I was so pleased with Mutual that I even decided to book a couple of refresher lessons myself, as it has been nearly 10 years since I have been behind the wheel! However I must say after just finishing my first lesson that it is already starting to come back to me, my instructor Murad eased me back into it at a pace that I felt comfortable with, first driving me to an area which was less busy so that we could work on the roads with less distractions, and by the end of the lesson I even felt confident enough to drive home!

I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Mutual, both for looking after my daughter and for helping me regain my confidence myself. I would recommend them to anyone looking to start learning how to drive as they are excellent at making you feel at ease.

Number 1 Driving School

I have been driving on and off for 15 years but for some reason I have never had the incentive to continue my lessons. I started my lessons with Mutual Driving School at the beginning of January, previous to that in November / December I was with another driving school and left to join Mutual. After 2 or 3 lessons, for the very first time I started to enjoy driving. I never felt like this with the other driving schools. Mutual driving school was able to get me a test for the 5th of February, I was grateful for that because I had only joined them in January.

Yes, you've guessed it, I went on to pass my test. Looking back on my experience I am not saying the other driving schools weren't okay, they just didn't give me the incentive that Mutual Driving School did, with a minimum amount of lessons and getting a test so soon. I would highly recommend Mutual to anybody reading this review. My instructor was Russell, I also had one lesson with another instructor called Les. I would recommend any of these instructors but especially Russell, who was helpful throughout and just gave me that incentive that I needed. I now just need to get myself a car!!!

the instructors try to convince you for a 2 hrs lesson which of 1/2 hr to get to the place where they train and 1/2 hr to get back which means only 1 hr of learning but they will charge you of 2 hrs, anyway when a friend booked my test as a present they were very upset and they said i was told that i was not ready and i needed another 20 lessons which was just over £400, [remainder deleted]

I recently took lessons with Mutual Driving School and successfully passed my test at the first attempt.

I was so impressed with the quality of tuition you could tell they know thier stuff. I tried other driving schools in the area but was not satisfied with the level of tuition because I felt that the instructor kept going over the same things and I was not learning anything new.

With Mutual I actually went away from each lesson feeling as though I had learned something and each lesson built up my confidence that little bit more until I felt I was ready to take my driving test.

On the day of my test understandably I was nervous but I was surprised to pass first time. I would like to say a big thank you to Stewart my instructor and also all of the staff at Mutual for helping me get through my test at the first attempt. I have already recommended Mutual to a couple of my friends and would strongly recommend them to anyone looking to take Driving lessons in East London.

I took my driving test with you just before New Year and was so happy to go into January with my Driving Licence.....
When i first contacted you back in May 2007 i was a little unsure as you was slightly outside my area and also a few pound more than others as well, however i decided to give it a go as you sounded ideal.
My first assesment lesson went very well and was told initially i needed around 25 hours. This was around what i expected, so far so good.
All my lessons arrived on time and all 25 lessons, apart from once when my instructor was sick was all with the same person. This is vital i think when learning to drive.
The office administration is fantastic, i work in customer service and have to say that my telephone calls were always answered and the staff are very friendly and very prompt in contacting me with test dates available.
I had some problems with my theory test at first and kept failing the hazard part, at mutual they dont do theory training, however they offered to spend some time with me at their offices FREE OF CHARGE and show me how to succeed on this section. I must say, after this i was a pro ha ha.
I would certainly recommend them to you and have to all my friends as well. Try and ask for a guy called Nathan when you book, he was my teacher and was everything i expected in an instructor and also was very funny. He made me feel at ease on my lessons and was not only teaching me everything i needed to know but also was making me feel comfortable and filling me with confidence. I think if you have confidence then that is half the battle won.
I hope you all have a good experience like me.
Thanks
Ruksana

Excellent Driving School

I have just passed my driving test and as always i think its good to leave a review and to tell others of your experiences.

I had been taking lessons with another school previous and just could not get the hang of this driving thing.... I decided to look for another driving school and along came Mutual driving school to save the day. I have to say i was about to give up driving and get back to London Transport, for all my sins.

Anyway i eventually had my assesment lesson with Mutual driving school and it turned out that i was better than i thought and they believed i just need confidence in my driving. So i took around 15 lessons with them and put in for my test, and passed.....

I took my test at Barking test centre if this helps anyone and this was a good centre for me and recommended by my instructor. There was no big roundabouts either (well i did not go on any) and i was so worried about them.

If you are looking fot a local school that will give you good quality driving lessons then i would give mutual the thumbs up.

My teacher was called Russell and i would suggest asking for him, for me he was great. A good instructor and very friendly....

Thanks Mutual, your the best
