cozy atmosphere

Market Coffee House gives off very comforting vibes as a place to chill out for a while, read a book, chat with a friend or write in a diary all over a cup of joe. With an ambiance of lovingly worn wood and communal tables, you definitely get a sense that this is not a stuffy or impersonal cafe.

Not a very big space, although there are a few small tables outside, but charming and comfy.

The reviews on the Market Coffee House focus very much on the coffee that is served here - which as everyone says is great. But you should also know that the food here is very good for lunch. This ranges from lovely homemade soup in great big bowls, sandwiches with super thick cut bread and ploughmans with enough cheese to keep the largest mouse happy! The ambiance of the place is great as well - all in all not a bad word to say about the place!

Excellent Coffee

The Market Coffee House does really great coffee. They even knew what a flat white was and made me one with a little coffee art on the top. Their coffee actually tastes of coffee though, so it might not be for you if you like eggnog-flavour caramel macchiatos and extra UHT cream fresh from the can.

I have had a lot of coffee around London, and it is all fairly uniformly just okay. Even the places that use good beans often mess it up by not actually knowing what to do with them. And of course the chains are no better: Cafe Nero coffee has its own strange burnt parsnip flavor, and everything Starbucks makes seems to end up tasting like vanillin.

I have also had more lukewarm coffees here than I care to count, mostly because everyone is in a rush and good hot coffee takes time. In case anyone hasn't noticed, it can tend to be a bit chilly in London, so you would think that people might actually want their coffee, say, hot. Market Coffee House takes the time necessary to make a great cup of coffee, and the result is well worth the wait. Plus the atmosphere is charming and olde fashioned and they make nice crusty toast, which is always a bonus.

Great Coffee

This place is fast becoming my favorite weekend coffee hangout.

Brushfield St is quite a historic st (Jack the Ripper and victims all hung out round here) and a few of the places have taken this as inspiration for their interior design. The floorboards and tables are all sanded and kinda creaky and they serve scones and tea cakes and it kind of feels like you've stepped back in time.

The coffee is great but my favorite thing are the tables outside along both exterior walls of the shop - sitting out here on a Saturday reading the paper is just so calming.
