Sausages & mash. A big hit!
March 01, 2009
I looooove good ol' bangers and mash.
I've wanted to go to this joint a few times passing through spitalfields, and I took the plunge yesterday. It was good times.
The decor inside is a bit kitch, with red and white checkered table cloths and old poster framed on the walls. The brand design is pretty cool, and I love the menu typography and branding around the shop. I guess its retro for people, and ironic cool for nearby shoreditchers.
Service I'll admit was a little bit slack, but we were given a table straight away .. and once we'd ordered the food was placed before us toot sweet!
I had the brewers sausages with real ale, and bubble & squeak mash. It was good. Hot tasty and satisfying.
They had like 6 or 7 types of mustard, which really makes me happy as a man who loves mustard.
I plumped for the beer mustard, I dunno where they got it from but I'm gonna have to get me some of that I can tell you.
Apparently bangers & mash is the food most served to a potential dumped partner .. thankfully my lady friend stayed with me and had a smoothie in a wine glass to drink, which looked amazing and (as I kept stealing some) tasted too.
I, dear reader had a ginger beer.
So basically the food is lovely, the place is pretty cool. Pretty decent prices bout 7-8 quid for a main, and I was stuffed.
Next time you are in the area and fancy something nice and british over some artisan french patisserie - get here, grub up and rule britannia!
