I totally agree with Richard, couldn't say it beter myself... I too used to live in the area and this was a great find amongst the snooty bars around Kensington.

A great local pub

For a time, I was staying in this area of Kensington and the Builders Arms was as good a local as I could ask for. A lively, young crowd fill this place up, particularly on weekends, and spill out onto the street. There is a wide selection of beers available (including hand pulled real ales), as well as a small selection of wines and plenty of spirits. Prices aren't too outrageous, considering the locale, and there are even some pretty tasty elements on the menu, although I've never attempted to order a meal here except on a quiet weekday afternoon.
During the summer the Builders Arms shows films on Sundays in their upstairs lounge (which is also worth checking out for a bit more room on busy weekend nights) and there is outdoor seating with individual heaters. As the pub is located in a residential area last call is at 11pm, but there are plenty of other late license pubs to visit on Kensington High after that hour.
