Czech Bohemia rules!

4.0 out of 5.0

Paul G.’s review really inspired me to find Lounge Bohemia. Sounded good- a secret place, not available for all mortals of the world and so close to my culture. I took a challenge, prepared a map and went to check it out.
It wasn’t so difficult to find that mysterious 1E door and luckily for us there was enough space to take a sit and have a pint. (it’s still better to book a table in advance plus you seem to have more respect from the staff if you do it).
Lounge Bohemia’s retro style is really impressive- old papers on the walls, primitive furniture and very original menu hidden in a Czech book. And what’s inside it? Most delicious beer I’ve ever had-a toffee one! Apart from that, you can taste traditional Czech spirits and another comunistic drinks there (wooooow- just go for it!). Drinks are a little bit more expensive than in standart pubs but really worth their price.
Because the lounge is radically bohemian, be ready to be surrounded by specific people. Don’t really know if they have any particular criteria of letting you in but my friend hasn’t been served because of the suit he was wearing. It seems that there is something so…. remember- first visit a stylist and then Lounge Bohemia.

PS Unquestionable number one there is a toilet in the wall- you must see it!

You'll either love this place or hate it. I'm in the former camp.

Run by a very particular Czech guy, with a very specific vision for the place, you get explained the club rules and guidelines when you call up (on his mobile, to book a seat, the only way to get in!).

Once the place has nowhere to sit down, he considers it full and won't take any more people. Play by his rules and he loves you, break them and he doesn't love you.

Hard to find, down a corridor and an unmarked door at 1 Great Eastern St, best explained by someone who's already been, which is part of the adventure.

And once you're in, you get to feast on great old world cocktails in retro quasi-communist style. And it's a bar in Shoreditch that's therefore never packed and yet doesn't charge.

Winner.
