For a pub called Bar Aquarium, the one puny fish tank is a bit of a disappointment - I was hoping for big wall-sized tanks with UV lights or something along those lines. But Bar Aquarium isn't really interested in attracting a bunch of beer-loving ichthyologists; the video games, the free copies of FHM, and the mandatory plastic glasses for drinking on the patio tell the whole story. Even so, I still find myself wanting to like this place more than I would expect.
The roof top beer garden certainly helps - not much of a garden, more of just a roof with some tables, but it's a long way up there and you get a nice view. Luckily, they have three bars at the various levels of the building, so you don't have to go all the way downstairs for a refill. In the early evenings, Bar Aquarium is a decent enough place for a beer, and the selection is good and the prices fair, but the later scene with the spill-over from the club next door is rowdy and predictably annoying (unless you also happen to be rowdy and annoying). Personally I'd be happier with some ichthyologists.
