Good English fare

4.0 out of 5.0

September 15, 2008

Jimmy's is not the place you'd stumble upon... as the manager himself admitted its at the "unfashionable end of Kings Road". But it is worth the wander down (and if you're heading to eight over eight and can't get in it's only a couple of doors down).
Jimmy's serve really good English food and although the prices are a little steep, it's still worth a visit from a treat (especially if it's paid for by others - thanks to Mr B for that :)). There is also a really good wine choice.
As it was a treat I chose options I wouldn't normally go for - soft boiled duck egg with shrimps followed by veal with colcannon. The starter was simply divine, the main course a little less impressive, but a great hunk of meat and with some delicious sides!
Portions were generous so had no room for puds but the choices looked good on paper.
Service was really really friendly and this plus the interesting takes on British cuisine means that we're sure to return...
