Great managment

5.0 out of 5.0

October 01, 2008

I recently had another one of my flats refurbished, in Gloucester Rd, and throughout the entire duration I was nervously monitoring the progress over emails etc. from the USA. After just 5 weeks, the place was stripped, gutted, completely rewired, all new plumbing installed, new electric hot water system, new bathroom, new kitchen, new coving, leveling joists, sash refurbishments, new sub-floor, skimming, decorating and I could go on and on. Cameron, one of Wedgewood's project managers, kept the project moving forward in great time even considering there were several testing times i.e. wrong items were delivered from bathroom company, I changed the scope of works, all causing delays/confusion etc. He simply took charge and made all the right decisions. Now having come back into London see the final project through my own eyes as opposed to weekly photo updates via email, I'm incredibly please with the transformation and would not hesitate for a moment to again recommend Wedgewood Builders to anyone looking for renovation work. All work was done on budget, was of very high quality, there were no surprises and they were even very patient with payments given the international transfers. Thanks so much for your hard work guys, well done!

Very good service

I have to agree with Bill regarding Wedgewood Builders. I had a loft extension done by Wedgewood in Kensington, and I was extremely pleased with the result. I have to say I was a bit nervous due to bad experiences with builders in the past, but I needn't have been at all. Wedgewood delivered a job done with great service, and when there were complications on the job they kept us fully informed at all times. I felt I could fully rely on them, which is rare in that industry. The loft extension looks fantastic, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Brilliant Guys

I find it surprising to read a negative review of Wedgewood Builders. I had a lovely extension built in Balham and everything was done on time, even early, and on budget with exception of a few minor extras. I would highly recommend these guys, they're very proactive and upbeat quality builders.

Thanks again Wedgewood.

Bill!

Warning

1.0 out of 5.0

Following my original post I was contacted by Wedgewood and accused of giving false information, so I re-phrase as follows-

1) After a delay of approximately 4 months beyond the completion date, wedgewood didn’t finish the job and I had to contract new builders to complete the task.

2) Wedgewood had supposedly finished the electrical work but never provided me with the electrical test certificates after I requested them. I therefore commissioned a registered electrician to 'sign of' the job, but was told that in his 20 year career as an electrician he had never seen such awful work and labeled the job as 'dangerous'. Consequently, the entire house was re-wired. (I am able to provide a signed report and photos as proof if anyone wishes to see them)

3) After being informed that the boiler could no longer be located in the bathroom (after it had been installed) Wedgewood re-located it to the kitchen. However, as the job wasn’t finished I got a Corgi registered plumber in to finish the job. It then turns out that the boiler could be installed in the bathroom if you understood the building regulations and was once again relocated. (I felt that there was a complete lack of understanding and knowledge of building regulations throughout the project)

4) I was never informed of purchases and was constantly sending things back. For example doors, windows, paint, pavers, etc...

5) The health and safety standards on the site were, I am told, non existent and the tools illegal.

6) I could go on...

In my opinion and from my experience I cannot recommend strongly enough that you do not use this company. If anyone wishes to contact me I am more than happy to provide further information and I only go to these lengths to discourage potential consumers on the back of my personal experience.
