Upscale, clean and...African?

4.0 out of 5.0

June 09, 2008

..the Spirit of South Africa is this franchise's subline and theme, which is reflected in the interior design. Everything seems very colonial, from the dark wood at the bar to the brown-yellow coloured carpets. The place is big with about 40 tables. Ceiling fans add to the atmosphere and keep the place cool. The pub has two pool tables and a couple of big screen TVs for sport events, such as the EURO 2008 which will be shown in its entirety.
They have the usual beers on offer plus one or two that you don't see that often and quite selections of wine, which makes this place somewhat more than just the usual neighbourhood pub.Additionally they have some cocktails and smoothies. I bet the after-work folks love it here.
The selection of food is the usual, but a bit more upscale, which might be due to its location. I had a club sandwhich which was quite good and my friend decided to try the stilton and portobello mushroom burger, but she wasn't as impressed. Although, the food was a bit pricey, Wi-Fi and a selection of different coffees are likely to convince me to come back for some football and/or studying.
