Real ales for real drinkers

The Magpie and Crown is a drinker's pub. The TV is rarely on, and I yet have to hear music on. Not that the patrons are filling the silence with idle chat - they are there to drink. Four pull-pumps provide an ever changing selection of superb real ales (almost two thousand different ales offered in the past ten years), complemented by a number if excellent lagers - including draft Budvar. The early-seventies decor provides comfortably little distraction while, in a token nod to the twenty-first century, the small kitchen serves very reasonably priced Thai dishes. The Magpie and Crown is not a place for a wild night out; but it provides an optimal environment for enjoying wonderful real brews in the company of Brentford's laconic finest.
