Golden trousers in George&Dragon

4.0 out of 5.0

June 13, 2008

You can’t even imagine how miserable I felt in the morning…Of course, all was my fault as I met up my old flat mates and we were exploring East London. As usual, we started in the Foundry and then popped in to the George & Dragon in Shoreditch. I’ve never had a chance to get inside as during weekends it was always extremely overcrowded. This time we were lucky enough and we were all taken by this bohemian place.

The pub is gay friendly and attracts lots of individualities. You can come across guys wearing golden trousers, girls full of bobo-chic, drag queens and even grandparents with their granddaughter!

What I loved the most was the bizarre overloaded décor! Artificial animals on the walls (my favorite one was a horse with moving jaw) and another kitsch elements made me feel like in early Lynch movies. Music was excellent (German electro from the 80ties) and none of us felt like sitting. Of course, nobody/ nothing is perfect… The huge disadvantage is staff with a very rude manager!!!! But don’t be discouraged, the George&Dragon is still a great idea for week/end.
