The Princess is an elegantly refurbished old pub popular with the after-work crowd. The upstairs restaurant serves well-regarded modern gastropub fare with a Mediterranean inspiration and high-quality steaks.

This really cool gastro pub/bar has very helpful and friendly staff. Food was amazing and they got a good selection on wine.
This place has a really good vibe to it and it was really buzzing on a Tuesday night.
Reasonable priced for quality food. I will definitely go back!

Bonanza

I just spent my Birthday here for drinks, then food (then maybe some more drinks), mistakenly thinking I was booking another venue round the corner. You know what? It was great - I think the other reviewer of this Shoreditch gem must have picked a bad night as me and all the crew had a great night.

On arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to find a charming fairy-lit boozer downstairs where staff were relaxed and friendly, beer was pretty good too and a decent selection. When we finally dragged our progressively merry posteriors upstairs for dinner, it were reet good! Order of the day had to be either the Lamb, or maybe the Pork belly (which we had had in Borough Market earlier in the day - hey it was my Birthday!) so I refrained. Apparently the fish was good too...

Anyway, I can't recommend The Princess enough for either a pint or two, or a pretty bloody good meal.

The Princess is a charming place, a bit out of the "I want to open a stylish modern pub" catalogue that is repeated all over London, but you can't fault the light airy feel of the place and the nifty spiral staircase up to the restaurant floor (precarious after a few pints). There are, however, two things I will fault them for: (1) you could poach an egg in their London Pride it's kept so warm (so order a lager), and (2) the bathrooms are so close to the bar, you can smell them constantly. I'll accept the stale beer bathroom cleanser aroma at a cheap boozer, but at an upmarket gastropub I want an aroma of old wood, or lavender, or something nice, but definitely not urinal deodorizer. This is easily avoided by going out on the street or going upstairs, but the ground floor pub is nice and I'd like to be able to hang out there more.

I have yet to try the restaurant, but the food looks delicious here and the sign advertising steak night always makes me hungry.
