Delicious Dim sums near Colchester - This seems to be the only Chinese restaurant that serves dim sums in Northeast Essex. Before it was opened, we used to have to travel to Southend-on-Sea or London for a dim sum lunch or afternoon tea. The range of dim sums served here may be slightly smaller than one of those restaurants in Chinatown but it covers most of the things that we want to order. We like the prawn dumplings, cheung-funs (steamed rice sheets with delicious fillings such as beef and prawns but there's also a vegetarian version), glutinous rice parcels (wrapped in lotus leaf and steamed). The children like custard tarts and the little golden hedgehogs (little sweet buns made in the shape of a hedgehogs) and the Mala layered steamed sponge. We always order some stir-fried noodles or ho-funs (rice sticks) in case the dim sums are not enough to fill up the children. The mixed meat stir-fried noodle is our favourite. We always specify that we wanted a crisp noodle base because the children love the crisp texture. The service is very efficient and friendly. We usually go there for lunches on Sundays but we have there once in the evening. The food was of a very good standard. The decor is very pleasaant as it is new and has a garden. Children are welcome.
