The Britannia, a new take on the Great British boozer, is a vast Victorian pub with a private one-acre garden which backs right on to Victoria park. The interior has been retooled with a spacious bar and lounge area, huge windows look out to the garden and park, wooden tables, chairs, and roomy sofas furnish these areas, in tune with the building. There’s also a first floor private dining room. The pub’s walls are decorated with Victorian portraits and period travel. Locals are invited to swap their own sepia photographs, to add to a growing wall collage, in return for a pint on the house.
