Good Food, Very Expensive
February 07, 2010
Went to Eastside for my anniversary this week and had a very good meal and experience. The menu was a ‘surprise’, meaning you choose from 2 courses, 3 courses or tasting menu and then they decide what to make from a list of ingredients they present to you. You can tell them you don’t want something (e.g. calves brains) or you really do want something (e.g. foie gras). I actually really like the concept. We chose 3 courses (£60 per person) and the wine pairing (£30 per person). So I pretty much panicked at the price, but since it was my anniversary I just smiled and dealt with it. The food: amuse bouche of foie gras, first course 1 scallop, second course 1 prawn, main small amount of chicken, accompanied with 3 small glasses of admittedly very good wine. Great service, good sommelier. So all in all good food, very expensive.
