A local secret
October 30, 2011
It says something when a restaurant in a little known (and not easy to access) area is full most days of the week.
Located in Fortis Green, a smart little area between Muswell Hill and East Finchley, it has a friendly and idiosyncratic pub (The Alexandra) a few doors down if you fancy a pre-meal drink.
The restaurant: smartly dressed and efficient waiters, generous space between tables, and excellent food provide for an enjoyable evening. The prices are a pound or two more expensive than a standard Indian restaurant but then the quality of the food is so high, it's worth paying the extra for. All the same, starter + main + rice + two pints of Kingfisher beer + tip came to less than £30 per head.
If it wasn't for them misplacing our reservation and having to wait for a table, it would have got a five-star rating.
