Seriously life-changing stuff
December 06, 2011
You don't expect a massage to change your life, do you? When you first come out, you don't expect much to happen. In fact you'll probably be too dazed to write anything in the visitors' book. THe whole session is generously timed. You get there five minutes before your booking, sit down for a consultation, ring a little bell when you're undressed and ready for your therapist to come in - none of that usual panic that you'll be mid knicker-removeal at the point at which she pops her head around the door - then off you go into a Narnia-like land of calm and fantasy.
It's like flying into a fairy story on a magic carpet. Depending on the mood you choose, your room will be lit in a different colour, you'll have a blend of essential oils to enhance the experience and the massage will be choreogaphed differently.
By the time you come back to earth, get dressed and have your cup of tea, flavoured with some more of your magic potion, you're not sure if you still belong on this planet.
I've had three of these now over the last year. I chose Perspective, followed by Ambition, followed by Confidence. I waited, I considered and I felt compelled to DO something.
Then I handed in my notice to take a year off and sort my life out and finish my novels. Be careful what you choose. I've already booked another one but I'm not sure what I'll choose. Pity there isn't one called Financial Security.
