Me & 3 friends went in to Volunteer last Saturday before going up town. We had a ball!!!

The atmosphere was great & bar staff fun & bubbly.

I was first nervous about trying a pub in Leith but could not have been happier.

We were really surprised by the great welcome, decor, atmosphere!!

I moved in recently to Leith & was nervous about going anywhere drinking in Leith. However the Volunteer is great for a few drinks mid week or before I we go up thetown as they have a great modern lounge that you can access through the side entrance. The staff are great & make you feel welcome.

They also do a curry night (home made) on a Thursday a curry & glass of wine for £4.99. Great!!

in a nut shell, fun and cheap

in the week you can come for a quite pint with friends or on your own and not get hassled by people trying to sell you stolen good, unlike most pubs in the area. the staff and locals will always be more than happy to have a good chat with you and if your not from the area will more than likely to be able to answer any questions you have.
on the other hand if you are just the for a drink and to read the paper everyone around you will respect that desition.

on the thursday night there is a quiz and a chance to win in the draw

friday night- there is a live act or the chance for you to sing for yourself!or just enjoy the many good singer which come to the bar

sat day- there are always the major live football matchers on shown on many flat screen and a cinima screen

in the night its singing again and thats the same of sunday

fri and sat open til 1a.m its in close reach of clubs if you feel like going somewhere else after
