Old World Charm, Modern Umbrellas

5.0 out of 5.0

January 23, 2010

James Smith sells umbrellas and walking sticks. It might seem very specific but actually it's nice to have a shop where the assistants actually know everything about the items they sell. I described what I wanted and they recommended exactly the right thing for the job.

It tends towards the quality end of the market so this isn't the place for a £3 pocket umbrella.

In terms of the interior it feels almost kitschly old-fashioned with the shop staff smartly turned out and the back room staff in aprons. However part of the charm is the fact that it has one foot firmly in the past.
