Ex-Mezzo's head chef Anthony Morrison has overseen the renaissance that has replaced the Tex-Mex menu with what he describes as 'fresh, modern British Cuisine with an emphasis on quality produce', although the classic american burger and steak remain. Hidden away upstairs is an additional dining area blending rustic oak tables with candles and exotic flowers on a backdrop of gold-leafed walls. After dinner, guests are invited to the club downstairs where they can dance, drink, relax and socialise in laid-back and intimate surroundings.

Cheap, Drunk. Or is it Cheap Drunk?

I'm sure the restaurant here is very nice and all, but the real draw at the Rock Garden is the Gardening Club in the basement. For once, a restaurant has decided to host a night club that's actually worth going to.

That said, it doesn't boast any superstar DJs. The sound system is de rigeur for small clubs. And the crowd is well... studenty.

But hit the weekly "Flirt" party (Tuesday nights), and take advantage. Or be taken advantage of. Happy Hour all night means that the alkie is crazy cheap. So you can get really drunk. And really irresponsible.* And with loud, popular music and a young crowd that's getting equally drunk and irresponsible, you're going to have a great time. If that's your scene.

I'm not saying it's an episode of Girls Gone Wild out on the dancefloor. In fact, it becomes a bit of a sausage fest later into the night. But without making any guarantees, I'd wager that if you couldn't pull here, you probably don't have a pulse. Or you're uglier than alcohol can compensate for.

*This review is not an endorsement of getting irresponsibly drunk. I am merely suggesting that this is a possibility. Or likelihood. Or practically a given.
