I love Stanfords. Before I go traveling anywhere, I go and get my guide books there, it just puts me in a really adventurous mood. It's also fantastic for travel writing, maps, anything travel related.

Beware though, browsing could lead to serious wanderlust!!!

Stamfords - The A-Z of Mappery Icon_featured_sm

I love this place, i can't go away anywhere without popping in for a map, or at least a sneaky peak at one. Be it a detailed topographic map of Cuba, a pocket city guide to Istanbul or my laminated bathroom world map these people have it. Service is great and the staff are relaxed & knowledgeable and even offered me a discount on my latest purchase because it was slightly shop soiled. It has also opened a snck bar which is rather good. My coffee (expresso) did its' job of blowing my head off.
I like the giant map you walk on and browsing the 100s of different world maps. They have some great educational gifts and I think maps make lovely pressies anyway.
Lastly, every time i go in i see famous people, really famous people, it shouldn't excite me but it does, perhaps because they, like me are in on the fact that Stamfords is just the ticket.
