The best thing about hipster breakfast spots is that most hipsters don't even start thinking about breakfast until about noon, and then seem to think that it's okay to wait 45 minutes for a table. I would be passed out on the pavement from lack of blood sugar by that point. The Garrison is a small place, and it gets completely crammed as it gets later, so going early is definitely a good strategy if you are coming for breakfast.
The decor in the Garrison is really fun - eclectic, kind of kitschy, but not super pretentious or maudlin. They also offer free wi-fi - great during week days when you can find the space.
The breakfasts are really good - excellent hollandaise, which I think is the true test of a breakfast spot. They were out of muffins when I ordered the Eggs Benedict, but they replaced it with toasted sourdough bread, which turned out to be even better than a muffin ever could be. They also serve up some pretty stellar espresso as well. They also serve lunch and dinner here as well, which also looks great, but I've so far only been for breakfast (the best meal of the day).

Quirky little gastro pub off the beaten track in SE1. Inside is a bright and breezy bar/dining area with an eclectic mix of furniture. Downstairs you can also find a cinema room for hire - great for screening your next feature film daaahlings... The food is very good indeed - I've been several times for lunch, and the Sunday roasts are great. I still get palpitations thinking about their Sticky toffee pudding. In fact, it took me about 2 weeks to lose the weight I put on during a single lunchtime when I was unable to show any restraint faced with the menu.... Throw in a short selection of cocktails and a good wine list and the Garrison has a special place in my heart indeed. Note: They do a very good spicy Bloody Mary - perfect for booting the hangover right out of your body in minutes.
Booking is advisable at weekends when this place gets packed with the Bermondsey loft dwelling hipsters.
