Hidden treasure

Fig is a hidden treasure in the heart of Barnsbury neighbourhood in Islington. There are about 6 tables in this tiny restaurant plus an outdoor area in back. They serve amazing, local, fresh food.. and unique dishes like venison with gooseberries. I've only eaten there once with my parents, but we were all thoroughly impressed. It's a slight splurge but a perfect place for a romantic dinner or a Sunday brunch. The waiter we had from Oz was also very friendly, helpful and perfectly attentive, as well as very knowledgeable about their wine selections. The only downside from my experience was the chocolate fondant I had for dessert, which wasn't rich enough as if they used cheap chocolate. But I'm also hyper-critical about these desserts as I swear the one I make at home is still the best around. :-)
