Could do better
October 07, 2008
I want to like this place, I really do. It's close to my place of work and from the outside it looks like the type of place I'd like to eat in - cool, mellow, open kitchen, lots of wood and glass. I've been here three times now and each time I've left feeling slightly disappointed or downright annoyed. The food is "safe" (read "bland" and go for the sausages) and the service not particularly friendly or efficient when I've visited. One particularly stroppy waitress brought the wrong bottle of wine to the table and when it was politely brought to her attention she had the audacity to tell my colleague that she should have spoken more clearly! Ambiance: 4/10. It gets noisy when full of "suits" eating on expenses at lunchtime (The Union's staple custom, I'll wager), and even when it's empty, woe betide anyone who wanders in off the street without a reservation. And for so unimaginative a menu, it's not a cheap eat. With so many restaurants vying for custom in and around Marylebone High Street, this one gets a resounding COULD DO BETTER.
