The name derives from the initials of Peter Lockie and Gordon Davison who started the business over 35 years ago. One of the first shops dedicated to the needs of the outdoor enthusiasts and travellers, it quickly established an enduring reputation amongst this demanding clientele as the most professional outdoor specialist in the UK catering for walkers, climbers, skiers and snowboarders nationwide.

Bad internet shopping experience

1.0 out of 5.0

March 03, 2011

I ordered a pair of Skins Compression Shorts and short sleeve top after searching on the internet and finding they were the best price. After placing the order on the Monday I decided I wanted to change the size of the top so I phoned back. After receiving a call back from the internet team, shortly after, I was informed that they were making up my order & one of the colleagues had tried both sizes to advise me. On the Thursday afternoon I received a message to say my order had been cancelled due to a lack of stock. I phoned back and the person I spoke too was confused as to why and told me the best thing I could do was order them again online. I went back on the website and you can still order the products at a new higher price. I am training for a marathon & have a niggling minor injury. My sports masseuse recommended these shorts to help me in my training and now I have wasted my time waiting for them to deliver the products and will have to wait after ordering somewhere else. Very disappointed, my advice is to pay a slightly higher price somewhere else for a better service rather than go through this nonsense.

the best outdoor/ski shop ever

5.0 out of 5.0

on a recent visit to this store i was well impressed with the:-
1 Friendliness of the staff
2 Their levels of expertise
3 willingness to help
4 the range of stock
All in all a great shop where i was given the best advice on purchases Ive ever had. A genuine interest in what I was doing and the best kit to meet my needs, not just the sell em the most expensive and get em out of the shop attitude ive encountered elsewhere.
Keep up the good work L.D.
