Happy Hour? Icon_featured_sm

2.0 out of 5.0

I went to Guanabara last Friday night as one of the crowd had recommended the cocktails - and of course the "Happy Hour". I'd heard of this place but had never been before so I was quite keen to see what all the fuss was about. When I got to the entrance I was quite disappointed and unsure where to go as it looked like the entrance to a snack bar. Once I had navigated three escalators I eventually entered what I can only describe as an amazing space, it looked like a theatre (which it used to be) and it seemed as though we had arrived at the dress circle....in time for happy hour.

There were a few of us and some people ordered cocktails and others beer. On the whole the drinks were good and cheap (£3 for a cocktail or beer, during happy hour) although nothing to write home about.

I had overcome my initial disappointment at the entrance but that was to reappear as soon as I paid a visit to the toilets - they looked as though they were the same as when this place was a theatre, and seemed no to have been cleaned since then either!
I would only recommend that you go here for the cheap drinks and to check out the old building but stay any longer and risk using the toilets at your own peril.

I attended a party thrown at this club on Drury Lane a few weeks back. Although the line was stretching out the door, we were able to enter quickly enough and headed upstairs to the large bar and dance floor. It was well past dinner time, but it's worth noting that this place does serve Brazilian food, and several groups that were wrapping up their meals looked suitably stuffed. Brazilian and Argentinian beers are on offer, as well as a variety of mixed drinks of a distinctively fruity variety (lots of smashed up strawberries and sugar cane). Good live music, a nice vibe, and even a set of foosball tables over by the second (!!!) bar made this a great place to party with a few hundred of my closest friends.

I had one of my best nights in London here not so long ago. Nice crowd and a great vibe. They had an act that was a mix of ska, funk n hip hop that blew me away.

I got there really early, like 7ish, on a Saturday, for some ridiculous drinks special. The look of the place is like a rundown 70s restaurant that has had all the tables ripped out.

But try one or ten of the Argentinian or Brazilian beers and you'll start loving this place.

I met some really cool people, they played really sweet tunes and had a really funky capoiera display, amongst other classic brazilian outfits.

It's a good night out and a little different. I would def recommend it.
