Despite being the poorer cousin in the Maroush group Beirut Express has been holding its own among stiff competition for years and well worth a visit.

It has the usual range of shawarma, hommos, moutabal and tabbouleh, and for a real treat try sitting at the bar to watch the chefs at work.

It's not the most comfortable restaurant, cramped and always busy, but for reasonably priced, authentic Lebanese food there are few places better.

Had a fab dinner at Beirut Express last night - it’s one of my regular favourites. Fabulous lebanese food, with quick service - and good quality ingredients.

Just one warning - the portions are generous, so be careful not to over-order. If you’re still hungry once you’ve finished you can always order more and it’ll be on your table in just a couple of minutes.

I’ll be back there in a week or two, no doubt.
