Lilly's is a typical brasserie and bar open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. The food is carefully selected and simply cooked, with everything on offer from bar snacks to an extensive menu for dinner. Set lunch menus during the week offer good value and there is a Brunch menu at the weekends. A selection of cocktails are available at the bar.

Brunch, Burgers, and Jazz

4.0 out of 5.0

The food at Lilly's is unpretentious and simple, so much so that it can at times be decent but a bit on the plain side. But they do some things really well, and the restaurant is really charming and comfortable. For one, they do a quality brunch with great eggs Benedict, pretty pancakes with berries and bananas, and a generous gammon steak with chips, amongst other options.

There are some good choices for later meals too. Being an American burger-snob, I tend to avoid burgers in London. Your basic pub burger is interesting only in that anything so grim could ever be passed off as a burger much less food. But Lilly's has a really good, straightforward burger - no portabello relish, or crispy pancetta, just honest, high-quality beef.

My favorite time to be at Lilly's is when they have the jazz trio in the bar (not always predictable, but usually on Sunday evenings). Go in for an espresso or a few beers with some friends, hang out, listen to some pretty good jazz in a comfy place - it could get a lot worse than that.
