Michelin dissapointment
September 27, 2007
It is almost sad that I single-handedly have been revoking Michelin stars from across the Capital's restaurants. But once again, I have to pull a star. This time from The Ledbury in Notting Hill.
The Ledbury serves modern French cuisine. The dining room and terrace are quite lovely and the service and wine list are good as well.
But let's all get to what we really care about. The food.
I find the food at The Ledbury to be uninspired and mediocre at best. Granted, I tend to be put off by any restaurant that does something as cliché as foam in my starter (the culinary equivalent of saliva on my plate). However, my main (monkfish) was simply average. And my dessert was an abomination covered in coffee beans (WTF is that?).
Yes, I am harsh, but truly I wanted to like The Ledbury. I was excited to have a conveniently located Michelin star restaurant near me. But in the end, they failed me and ruined my dreams of culinary pleasure in my neighbourhood. Damn it!
